Our True Nature and Purpose: by Teri Jo Wheeler

For those of you who have or work with kids, please, can you teach them (and, more importantly model) how not to be jerks? Can you help them be with and process their emotions, especially darker ones so this doesn’t ooze out onto others unconsciously? I know it’s a tall order, but I am seeing much more callousness, meanness, entitlement and selfishness out there and it is heart-breaking. Blaming these ‘kids today’ does not help. This is learned behavior – not natural at all. It comes from too much apathy, distraction and screen time and not enough heart-to-heart, face-to-face ‘being’ time – true for all of us. I know this isn’t a newsflash to anyone, but sheesh, it’s super scary to witness the severity of the pain and disconnect they carry. Nothing is more important than raising kind and caring humans – not raising smart, shrewd or successful ones, nor athletic, creative or competitive ones, not pretty, popular, privileged or cool ones… but kind ones, empathetic ones, thoughtful, generous, conscious, connected and compassionate ones – these are the people who will truly make a difference here. And, we need all the help we can get now, btw – all those later qualities ARE our true nature. We are wired to care about and serve each other. If we are not doing this naturally, the system has gone awry and we need to do something radical to come back into balance, to get back to our True Nature (hint hint) and what really matters.

Exactly… There is a PURPOSE FOR EVERYONE… we have assigned them a ROLE… or as we like to put it, we handed them the scripted and said “would you read this, so my stuff can come up, and I can work on it… ”

Being Real means Knowing our True Self… not just the masks we try on… What mask are you willing to drop today so you can have a life where you allow your Self to be free to know and Love YOU… “The world I see holds nothing I want” ACIM Lesson 128

One of the things we have been speaking about in the 30 Day Commitment to Peace, when it comes to believing we should focus on our Dreams/Hopes/Futures and how they are often our obstacles to Peace in the Moment…

I think the hesitancy to ” go after ” or ” follow ” our dreams may be because we / I don’t want to discover they are NOT “it” –
Perhaps we don’t wish to discover that they cannot and will not offer us what we truly want – what our hearts truly longs for… Perhaps, in a sense, we are ‘enlightened’ to already know this within, that to “go after” them and to find them hollow, and wanting, we wake to see we don’t know who, what or where we really are …. and it is THAT we want to avoid, even though it is here the door to Everything that IS in Truth is opened.
In a way, harboring our dreams is actually designed to keep us small, so very small. In a way ‘non – existent’ ..
As long as I harbor dreams, hopes, ideas and NOT let them have their life, I can imagine them to be something they are not, and imagine myself, this world, and the other, to be something they are not.
So, it may be wise to allow these dreams to have their life – to “go for it” and be honest about what they offer, thank them for what they did offer, and finally place them on a cloud …. and come back to the moment.
There may be only one way to find this out to be true or not. ……be honest and go for it . Let them have their life…. and see. Thanks Russell

Mistakes are acts of self-betrayal. They’re the moments when we did or said something that wasn’t true to who we really are — some moment when ego knocked us out of our shining place, when fear blocked our love, when a false sense of self prevailed if only momentarily and gained control of our personality. But God (Divine Love/Source) will outwit your self-hatred. The truth of who we really are was not uncreated in that mistaken moment — it was simply eclipsed — and we can wait patiently for that perfect moment, certain to come around again, when we will have another chance to choose love over fear, authenticity over grandiosity, self-confidence over false modesty, and the light of our true being over the darkness of our wounded self. ~ Marianne Williamson

The pure Self alone is. It is timeless and unchanging. It is what we truly are. Removing the mask of personal identity, this liberating Truth becomes spontaneously known inside the Heart. ~ Mooji

Thoughts and Quotes for Today 3.27.14 March 27, 2014

1. “I’d rather let my spirit fly free, than be caged by religion. Become a Buddha not a Buddhist; become a Christ not a Christian. One implies an awakened state of consciousness, the other a dogmatic approach to life.”God” is too big for one religion. Love & quantum physics are my religion. At one level, all religious traditions have the same aim—to transform the individual into a positive being. I love Jesus, I love Shiva, I love Krishna, I love Buddha. All rivers lead to the same ocean. “I believe in God, but not as one thing, not as an old man in the sky. I believe that what people call God is something in all of us.” ~ John Lennon

2. Relationship works best when you recognize that it is just you doing a dance with yourself. The more you give, the more you get, and the only thing that can be lacking is the love you fail to give. The more angry and upset you get, the more angry and upset the other gets. The more loving and peaceful you get the more loving and peaceful the other gets. And what you see in the other you strengthen in yourself because that is what you are focusing on.  And I am always in relation with the self. so, which self am I relating to? the small ‘s’ self or the Authentic ‘S’ Self?

3. Today, practice stepping back from a situation where you are deeply attached, where your heart races or your palms are sweating up a storm. Think about how trivial this incident is from the broad perspective of your True and Authentic Self. It really does not matter all that much. Go within. Allow Faith to move your Spirit in the direction you WANT not the direction you fear…

4. The romance has died and the promise of special love has crashed and burned. It always does. Now that same relationship that had the purpose of supporting the ego becomes a major force in undoing the ego. Learning and forgiveness opportunities abound. Now, instead of the relationship teaching you that you are separate and special, you can learn that you are one. As you recognize the all-inclusive oneness of love, your relationship becomes a phenomenal teaching accomplishment.

1. Incredible change happens in your life when you decide to take control of what you do have power over instead of craving control over what you don’t. – Steve Maraboli

2. Taking off the Mask: The persona and the behavior associated with it is just a mask. If you see only the mask, you won’t see who the other person is. If s/he sees only your mask, s/he will not see you truly. ~ Paul Ferrini

3. Suffering is a product of limited knowledge. ~ Sri Sri Ravishankar

4. When we slow down we allow the Universe to work on our behalf.

5. The Wrong Choice?: You think your problem lies in making the wrong choice. Yet every choice is an opportunity to learn. It cannot be wrong, unless your refuse to learn from your mistakes. ~ Paul Ferrini

6. “Life is love, dearest. All else is imagined confusion.” ~Byron Katie

1. “Peace doesn’t require two people; it requires only one. It has to be you. The problem begins and ends there.” –  Byron Katie

2.We cannot come unto our “God” until we learn to relate to and Love one another. Those apparent “other” people in our face are our spiritual practice. Practice – practice – practice! Stop judging, comparing, defending, competing, correcting, fearing and/or using them to get something you think you are lacking. Go! Practice some more.

3. “To meet everything and everyone through stillness instead of mental noise is the greatest gift you can offer to the universe. I call it stillness, but it is a jewel with many facets: that stillness is also joy, and it is love.” Eckhart Tolle

4. “I don’t fix my problems. I fix my thinking. Then the problems fix themselves.” ~ Louise Hay

5. “Your life, as it is, is tailor-made for your next step– awakening to your true nature as the supreme reality.” ~ Mooji

6. “Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality.” ~ Earl Nightingale
