Our True Nature and Purpose: by Teri Jo Wheeler

For those of you who have or work with kids, please, can you teach them (and, more importantly model) how not to be jerks? Can you help them be with and process their emotions, especially darker ones so this doesn’t ooze out onto others unconsciously? I know it’s a tall order, but I am seeing much more callousness, meanness, entitlement and selfishness out there and it is heart-breaking. Blaming these ‘kids today’ does not help. This is learned behavior – not natural at all. It comes from too much apathy, distraction and screen time and not enough heart-to-heart, face-to-face ‘being’ time – true for all of us. I know this isn’t a newsflash to anyone, but sheesh, it’s super scary to witness the severity of the pain and disconnect they carry. Nothing is more important than raising kind and caring humans – not raising smart, shrewd or successful ones, nor athletic, creative or competitive ones, not pretty, popular, privileged or cool ones… but kind ones, empathetic ones, thoughtful, generous, conscious, connected and compassionate ones – these are the people who will truly make a difference here. And, we need all the help we can get now, btw – all those later qualities ARE our true nature. We are wired to care about and serve each other. If we are not doing this naturally, the system has gone awry and we need to do something radical to come back into balance, to get back to our True Nature (hint hint) and what really matters.

***Exchanging Skepticism for Unconditional Trust***

“What I mean by unconditionally trust in Life, is that you no longer expect to find enemies or to be hurt. People usually fear that if they simply start trusting in life and all beings fully, that they will lose their discernment and security along with dropping their skepticism, but skepticism is based in fear, while discernment and security are natural manifestations that come with raising one’s frequency.

Greater Intelligence can only be achieved by increasing one’s vibratory state of being; it can only arise from genuine bliss, not from mental control or skepticism.

So for your own sake, for your intelligence’s sake, and for the sake of this planet’s welfare, drop the skepticism and start trusting and loving unconditionally. It’ll make you smarter and more powerful than you ever thought possible, not dumber or victimized. Skepticism does not keep you in control, it keeps you in fear and out of alignment. After all, everything you meet is more of your Self, so what is there to fear?” ~ Bentiho

Thank you

1. I’ve never met anybody with less integrity than myself. ~ Byron Katie   (before we start defending our stand or “integrity”, we can re-member Life is showing UP as our mirror… what are my judgments thoughts against the world? what am I defending against? what am I making wrong?? it’s ALL ME showing UP for ME to see my false beliefs or errors about the world and ask for correction/healing)

2. I must have decided wrongly, because I am not at peace.
I made the decision myself, but I can also decide otherwise.
I want to decide otherwise, because I want to be at peace.
I do not feel guilty, because the Holy Spirit will undo all the consequences of my wrong decision if I will let Him. I choose to let Him, by allowing Him to decide for God for me. ~ ACIM Chapter 3

3. Today We Affirm: Here in my own yard, all is well.  I stay in my own business and clean up my own vibration by choosing the thoughts that feel good when I think them. There is a Power and a Presence which guides my actions and leads my feet as I align myself with Higher Thoughts. There is no need to struggle or strive to get somewhere. I am following my joy and peace through the open doors. I am anointed with Grace to accomplish all with ease as I relax into the downstream thoughts, knowing that all is well.

4. Don’t be a storehouse of memories. Leave past, future and even present thoughts behind. Be a witness to life unfolding by itself. Be free of all attachments, fears and concerns by keeping your mind inside your own heart. Rest in Being. Like this, your life is always fresh and imbued with pure joy and timeless presence. Be happy, wise and free. ~ Mooji

1. If you’re alone in a room and you’re suffering, eventually it will dawn on you that you’re the one who’s causing it. Checkmate. ~ Bryon Katie

2. Your worst enemy cannot harm you as much as your own unguarded thoughts. ~ Buddha

3. Is our personal spiritual quest selfish? Our mind is the only mind that we can be vigilant with – the only mind we can use to choose again. And yet, there is no self that is separate from all of us. Therefore, any progress that any one of us makes towards peace and love is beneficial to all of us. In fact, our own awakening is the greatest contribution any one of us can make for the good of all, including our loved ones. Accepting the atonement for our self is the way that I save the world. Thanks Benny

4. Can you live with all the ups and downs of the human experience and still be conscious of, and nurtured by, the truth of who you are?  YES! Awakening is not just for the sages of the past sitting on a mountaintop. It is for you. !~ Gangaji

5. What I resist has a tendency to persist because I am putting energy into it and perpetuating it by focusing on it. The more successful I am at just witnessing suffering and the sufferer, without identifying with any of it, the less urgency I feel about having to resist – and the more quickly it passes. Such is the power of acceptance and surrender.

1. “The Dance is about finding ways to let our essential nature guide our choices and our actions. It’s about honestly looking at the times when it is hard for us to remember and be guided by who we really are- the times when we are tired and hurt, frightened and angry. It’s about the places in this culture where it is easy to become confused about who we are – when we are dealing with money and sex and death and power.” ~ Oriah Mountain Dreamer from THE DANCE

Ah yes, the places where we sink into unconsciousness. How to stay awake to what we are? Well, in part it helps to accept that human beings repeatedly go to sleep & wake up. Oh, I don’t mean to suggest that we can’t ever learn to be more frequently awake – only that trying “harder” won’t necessarily work, & may just stir the fears that make going unconscious likely. It is a steady, gentle practice finding our own way of coming back to center, of grounding & checking in with ourselves, of calming anxiety & letting ourselves BE here. Whether we pray or meditation, follow our breath or consciously move & ground our body. . . . or all of these and more. . . we can come home to ourselves a thousand times a day.

2. OUR MOST FRAGILE VULNERABILITY: If we are able to travel to the very center of our deepest vulnerability, around which we have built up many layers of defenses, and allow it to be there – without doing anything with it, something miraculous will happen. While it will smart initially, travelling to the center of our vulnerability and allowing it to be, will initiate a growth in stature within. When we realize we can give up our most cherished defenses, what we thought was going to flounder and die will actually rise up, much like a tightly-bound bud springing up into bloom at the first sight of Light and Love. So go there now. As we do so, our courage will be rewarded a thousandfold. And if you would like a hand with it, let me know.  Thanks Daniel..

3. The goal of our spiritual journey is not about being a successful human being having more serial adventures in space/time. It is about going beyond illusions – beyond that mistaken idea of being a separate mind contained in a body seemingly living in a world of opposites, separation and death. It’s about becoming aware of our Self as an infinite and eternal being.

4. Miracles transcend the body. They are sudden shifts into invisibility, away from the bodily level. That is why they heal. ACIM T-1 I.17

Thoughts and Quotes for Today 1.2.14 January 2, 2014

1. “The very desire to be certain,to be secure, is the beginning of bondage. It’s only when the mind is not caught in the net of certainty, and is not seeking certainty, that it is in a state of discovery.” ~ Krishnamurti.

The desire for ‘security’ is natural: it is the desire to return to Oneness. The ego’s response to that desire is where the challenge lies: it will tell me to seek for certainty in the illusion, any illusion. Anywhere but where it can be found: in the relinquishment of my self made identity. Thanks Diederik

2. Anyone can be a miracle-worker — anyone who chooses to be. Anyone can hear the sound of an ancient melody that calls to all of us, beckoning us to remember who we Truly are and what power we have. ~ Marianne Williamson

3. Unity Consciousness: Sometimes words get so confusing you just have to toss them away and get quiet. It doesn’t matter what you call it when you get quiet. Call it being. Call it witnessing. Call it time-out. The idea is to sink down beneath the layer of mind that wants to define everything and know what to expect from life before it happens.

Unity consciousness is not dualistic or exclusive. In unity consciousness, black and white are mutually valid assumptions, and there are infinite shades of gray. People ask for a step by step approach to unity consciousness, but all you can give them is step one: get quiet. Turn your attention inward. Breathe and be. The rest will take care of itself. ~ Paul Ferrini

4. “Many who would like to heal themselves want to know how to go about things like “trusting in your own healing,” “letting go and allowing healing,” and “accessing your place of healing.” Are these platitudes of any use to the average person? People who want to heal their bodies need to know how to put such things into practice.

A: I don’t like to advocate a set methodology, instructions, or anything like that, because if I do, I’m only creating more dogma, and the whole point is to be free of that. I do suggest, however, not viewing illness or symptoms as “something to be gotten rid of,” like an enemy. This a fear based reaction. For me, the appearance of these symptoms is my body’s way of trying to heal me. I know that if I try to eliminate the illness with an adversarial attitude, I end up doing the opposite, antagonizing it and embedding myself deeper into the illness mind-set.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that you don’t go and see a doctor. I’m purely referring to how I view disease or physical manifestations of the body. The idea is not to obsess about it and have your days revolve around doing things for the sole purpose of getting rid of the illness. It’s actually far more productive to distract yourself and stay occupied with activities that stimulate you in a positive, creative way.

As far as I could, I’d try to free myself from needing my health to be a certain way in order to find happiness and just create joy in the moment, as though I were already healthy. Living in the present means not carrying any emotional baggage from one segment of time into the next. Every instant is unique and can’t be replicated. It’s our choice whether to carry our fears with us, keeping us stuck in illness.

You don’t have to be a spiritual guru or anything. Just make the most of every minute, living it to the fullest and doing things that make you happy, whether you have a month to live or 100 years.” ~ Anita Moorjani

1. “Peace doesn’t require two people; it requires only one. It has to be you. The problem begins and ends there.” –  Byron Katie

2.We cannot come unto our “God” until we learn to relate to and Love one another. Those apparent “other” people in our face are our spiritual practice. Practice – practice – practice! Stop judging, comparing, defending, competing, correcting, fearing and/or using them to get something you think you are lacking. Go! Practice some more.

3. “To meet everything and everyone through stillness instead of mental noise is the greatest gift you can offer to the universe. I call it stillness, but it is a jewel with many facets: that stillness is also joy, and it is love.” Eckhart Tolle

4. “I don’t fix my problems. I fix my thinking. Then the problems fix themselves.” ~ Louise Hay

5. “Your life, as it is, is tailor-made for your next step– awakening to your true nature as the supreme reality.” ~ Mooji

6. “Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality.” ~ Earl Nightingale
